Class Descriptions

 

Kinder Cubs (10 months- 8 years old)

Our Exclusive Kinder Cubs Program is made up of three kinds of classes: Cuddle CubbiesTiger Tots, and Kinder Cubs.  Our Kinder Cubs classes are designed to meet and exceed state standards which includes any Common Core standards currently in place by the state of Arizona. These are educational classes that use gymnastics, martial arts, active play, music and games as the method of teaching.

 

 

 

 

Tiny Tiger (4-5 years old)

 

This program introduces jiu-jitsu and striking technique in the form of games. Using these "games" we are able to develop the skills necessary for furthering their study and anchor positivity and fun to martial arts.  In addition to learning about how to defend against a bully, Tiny Tigers also seeks to build a child's confidence and respect for others.

Here is a sample of the Tiny Tigers foundation taught:

Bullyproof

 

Every month in the United States, three million children miss school due to fear of bullies. The goal of the program is to instill in your child unshakable confidence so they can overcome bullies without violence. Due to the non-violent nature of the Gracie Bullyproof techniques, CNN, ABC, NBC, and Oprah have featured Bullyproof programs as one of the few effective counter-measures to bullying for youth.  We will teach your child to use verbal assertiveness to deter bullies and several non -violent self-defense techniques to stay safe if physically assaulted. We emphasize leverage-based control holds to neutralize threats without violence.  We will prepare your child to defend themselves against bullies without turning them into one.  If you are interested in instilling your child with unshakable confidence while reinforcing positive values and good character, the AZ Tiger MMA Bullyproof program is for you!

Youth/Teen MMA                                   Here's an example of how a Bullyproofing Program can help your child.

 

The AZ Tiger MMA Foundations program is designed to give your child the physical, psychological and verbal tools to overcome bullies. In addition, interested and dedicated students may be invited to Competition team to compete in local and national grappling and jiu-jitsu competitions.Training provides a fun way to stay healthy and active while learning valuable leadership and self defense skilss. Your child will learn about responsibility, health, respect, citizenship, manners and caring.

Women's Empowerment Practical Self Defense

 

Our Women'S Empowerment program is a comprehensive self defense program for women based on proven verbal, physical, psychological defense strategies tested and proven effective over nearly two decades.  In this program we will teach you how to neutralize the 15 most common attacks ranging from having your hair grabbed to being pinned to the ground. You can start at anytime and participate without previous experience. Unlike most other self defense systems that rely heavily on strength, speed, and coordination our program uses leverage, technique, and timing so that anyone regardless of age or athletic ability can defend against larger and stronger opponents.

Adult Striking

 

This class features a combination of strength training, dynamic flexibility,  shielding and bag work. The focus of this class is to emphasize muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. Students will learn correct body alignment to maximize efficiency, while refining Tiger MMA Combative techniques through repetition, drills, and punch kick combinations. You may notice the combination of upper and lower body focus as well as aerobic and anaerobic activity. While we promote the emphasis on strong technique, we also practice live sparing known as Randori.  Training this allows us to build our foundation and skill set quickly . Being safe and fun is a priority, as well as team sprit, comrodre and the practicality of our system.

Adult Jiu-Jitsu

 

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was founded by the Gracie Family in 1925 and that time practioners have proven time and again that if you don't know how to defend yourself in a clinch or on the ground then you don't  really know how to defend yourself. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu aka BJJ is characterized by grappling/wrestling on the ground, the clinch position while standing up, takedowns, pins, armlocks and chokes. It is extremely effective for a smaller weaker person to defeat a much larger untrained opponent with leverage and technique. Although there are over 600 techniques in BJJ, there are 36 essential techniques that have been used more often with greater success for self defense on the street.  The AZ Tiger Adult Jiu-Jitsu Program has taken those 36 techniques and broken them down into 23 classes.  We teach both BJJ sport training as well as BJJ Street Training. While you will learn technique and methods for both, let us know when you register what emphasis you prefer. There is a list available of what these 36 techniques are upon request.
